Introduction
Lucinda Evergreen is a supporting protagonist of Samantha’s Quest: Isles of Galerock. Her friends and loved ones usually call her Lucy. Lucinda is an 18-year-old high school graduate, who has just enrolled in a Bachelor of Education at university.
Like Samantha, Lucinda is a regular churchgoing Christian, who has been known to quote from the Bible to provide comfort for others. Lucinda is Samantha’s best friend who acts as a motherly mentor figure for her. After Samantha makes it out of the portal, Lucinda sees her worried, and provides her with emotional support and comfort over a cup of tea.
Appearance
Lucinda has fair skin and long straight platinum blonde hair that’s let down loose at the back and goes down to her waist, with a fringe. She wears a short-sleeved beige top, with a mid-length black skirt, and Mary Jane open sandals. She has bright green eyes.
Lucinda has a humble, modest, and yet also elegant appearance. Her outfit doesn’t exactly stand out, but reveals a gentle soul. Perhaps the thing that stands out most about Lucinda’s appearance is her beautiful naturally-coloured platinum blonde hair. Lucinda doesn’t wear makeup, but her natural beauty shines forth regardless.
Personality
Lucinda is gentle, caring, elegant, and wise, with a touch of classic Irish humour and charm. One of the first things that stands out about Lucinda is her Irish accent. Lucinda is originally from Ireland, and has kept her accent as well as some Irish phrases (such as “You’ll be grand, Pet!”), which instantly makes her unique and likeable among her peers.
Another thing that stands out about Lucinda is her warm, motherly attitude that causes her to look out for others. Lucinda is the one who makes sure everyone is okay. This is seen in episode 6, when Lucinda asks Maya and Clara if they want to join her and Samantha at the cafe, which shows her desire to make others feel included.
Her caring nature is shown when Samantha offers to walk Clara to her home after she has a difficult phone call with her father, which Lucinda immediately agrees with and does likewise. Similarly, it’s shown in episode 7, when Lucinda comforts Clara just outside her house, and promises to wait for her outside till she’s done.

Lucinda’s wisdom is primarily seen when she talks to Samantha at their candle-lit dining table over a cup of tea on the night that Samantha and Amy entered the portal and returned home. Lucinda explains to Samantha why she thinks she was chosen as a blade wielder, promises to stay by her side, and gives her a quote from Jesus to comfort her.
The above scene is one of the moments that solidifies Lucinda as Samantha’s best friend and mentor figure. Lucinda’s gentle demeanour and wise counsel allows others to confide in her about their problems without feeling judged or mocked. One of Lucinda’s key gifts is being able to see what people are going through, offer them support, and give people encouragement.
Lucinda’s humourous side shines forth in episode 5, when she tells Samantha the joke about God inventing whiskey to prevent the Irish from ruling the world to cheer her up. It’s also shown in episode 7 when Lucinda meets Amy, and teases her about the need for patience in waiting for Clara, and when she says how she’s surprised Samantha hasn’t annihilated her yet after putting her through all that portal madness.
Role in the Story
Lucinda plays an important role in the story as Samantha’s best friend, who acts as her mentor and guide. When Samantha is going through a tough time, Lucinda is always there to talk her through the problem and cheer her up—just as she did on the night that Samantha and Amy made it out of the portal.
Lucinda also provides support for Clara after she notices Clara is upset after her phone call with her father. Lucinda’s insights and words of wisdom are an invaluable part of the team, and can help the heroes get through the toughest of times.
